EDC TRAINING PROGRAMMES 

1.       Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Programme on Construction Supervisor Course : A skill development course on Construction Supervisor under Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (EDS) was held at Entrepreneurship Knowledge Centre (EKC), located at Zoram Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (ZIDCO) Building, New Capital Complex between 19^th February and 20^th March, 2019. Seven faculty members participated in this Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programme (ESDP) on Construction Supervisor Course, five of which were Engineers and Architects from Mizoram University (MZU), one engineer from Zoram Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (ZIDCO) and one surveyor from Land Revenue and Settlement Department, following a pre planned syllabus composed of several skill development courses over a span of 30 days. The Course coverage includes –

·         Basic of working plan & Drawing with practical demonstration and Building Regulation, Drawing & Plan from an architecture perspective , Basic Surveying & Levelling with practical demonstration.

·         Basic of Mensuration, Area Calculation & Measurements with practical demonstration.

·         Building Regulation, Drawing & Plan

·         Civil construction like contouring, road & layout plan, Masonry works, handling of machineries and descriptive study on cement, sand, brick, wood, aggregates and so on.

·         A study on various tools and techniques, sanitary fittings and management of sites were conducted to generate effective know-how on construction supervision jobs. A field visit to Mizoram University, Tanhril was made to practically view and study how roads, dams and buildings are constructed.

·         Acts related to Civil Works and other regulations provided by the Aizawl Municipal Corporation were introduced so that all trainees can be familiar with the guidelines followed by the Construction Board of Mizoram.

The main focus of this course is to encourage and instill interest in the Mizo youth in construction business. This programme was attended and completed by 28 individuals.

2.       Certificate in Accounting & Financial Management :  Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) conducted a training programme “60hrs Certificate in Accounting & Financial Management” during 22^nd April to 10^th May, 2019. Out of 50 applications, 30 candidates are selected and 25 candidates have successfully completed the training programme. Mr. Ajay Kumar Joshi, Chartered Accountant and 3 other faculty participated in this training programme. The objective of this training is to upgrade/ enhance the knowledge of the candidates in the profession of Accounting as a good accountant enables the organisation to judge their success-failure and plans for the future and also the course will help not only the students but also employees of different companies as well as start-up entrepreneurs in maintaining the needs and financial records of an organisation. The training programme, apart from the theoretical components, also includes practical aspects such as tally practices, Goods & Services Tax returns and Accounting for taxes.

The following important topics were discussed during the training programme:

·         Components of Financial Management, Stake holders in Financial Management.

·         Basics of Book Keeping & Accounting with practical demonstration.

·         Understanding of GST Laws, GST Returns with practical demonstration.

·         Practical aspects such as Tally, Creation of Groups, Ledgers, Cash & Fund Flow , Payroll Accounting, Invoice Printing & Export in Excel and Banking & importance of BRS.  

·         Flow of movement of Goods, Working Capital Cycle, Career Building in Processional Course- CA, CMA, CS.

3.       Certificate Program in Entrepreneurship : The program has been designed with the specific purpose of identifying, nurturing & supporting candidates in realizing their entrepreneurial dreams. This Course imparts essential knowledge on how to start one’s own business venture & their various factors that influence successful set-up & sustainable operations. The main aim is to empower youths and budding entrepreneurs of Mizoram to identify their individual preferences, career goals and objectives, and venture ideas. The following important topics were discussed during the training programme:

·         An Introduction to Entrepreneurship

·         Idea Generation & Design Thinking

·         Market Survey & SWOT Analysis

·         Basics of Management

·         Production Programme, Plant Capacity etc.

·         Importance of Decision Making, Costing & Pricing of a product

·         Preparing a Detailed Project Report

·         Business Ethics

Out of 50 applications, 30 candidates are selected and 28 candidates have successfully completed the training programme. The programme was conducted during 18^th to 24^th June, 2019.

4.       Training on Goods & Services Tax : The Course enable the learners understand the key areas of impact in their business, prepare different scenarios for the design and application of GST, identify areas of adverse impact and prepare contingency measures, examining legal documentation for recovery of taxes on existing transactions, etc. The following important topics were discussed during the training programme:

·         Introduction to GST, Tax Rates, Registration & types of Returns

·         GST Portal Briefing, Penalties & payments

·         TDS-registration & filing

·         E-waybill system

The training was conducted at the Centre itself on 10^th & 11^th July, 2019. 30 candidates have successfully completed the training programme.
